Thomson Cities and Short Breaks has launched its 2005 Christmas Markets and Christmas Shopping Breaks program recently. The new program features short break packages as well as accommodation-only options to a total of 26 cities worldwide, including Paris, Florence, Barcelona, Warsaw, Copenhagen, Boston and Toronto.
In line with the launch, Thomson has commenced distribution of the Christmas Markets brochure to all travel agents in the UK. The brochure features a combination of short breaks with flights from a total of 29 UK airports. New additions to this winter's 2005 program include the cities of Dresden, Frankfurt and Nuremburg.
Thomson reveals that in recent years, the most popular Christmas markets have proved to be the more traditional ones including Salzburg, Munich, Vienna and Berlin. As a result, the company has teamed up with Hilton and Scandic hotels to offer a bigger and more selective range of two, three and four-star hotels.
Another destination included in this year's program is Krakow, Poland. Krakow boasts one of the most picturesque outdoor Christmas markets, which is located in the Old Market Square and Cloth Hall. Prices start from £197 per person for a two-night bed and breakfast accommodation at the three-star Alexander hotel in Krakow. Price includes return flights from Gatwick, with LOT between 1 - 25 December, breakfast and accommodation based on twin sharing.
