According to a Lastminute.com survey, a typical British woman spends a total of 682.5 days, or almost two years, of her working life either to get ready for work or to prep up herself for a night out, reported 999today.com
In an online survey conducted among 3,000 respondents, it was found that on a typical working day, UK women spend nearly an hour washing, styling their hair and applying make-up before they start their day. On weekends, British women consume 90 minutes to make themselves presentable for a night out. In total, women spend 16.5 days a year getting ready, the survey concluded.
In contrast, lastminute.com found that men only spend 212 days of their working lives getting ready for work and leisure, or about 7 months of their lives in total. The average British male takes a mere 13 minutes a day to get ready before he goes to work, which equates to nearly 3 days a year. On weekends, a typical male spends just over half an hour getting ready, which is nearly an hour less than the girls.
The 999today.com article further disclosed that the most time consuming task for women, when it came to their going out preparations, was choosing the right outfit to wear (26 minutes) and styling their hair (24 minutes). On the other hand, men spend just over 10 minutes grooming and styling hair, and about 9 minutes having a bath or shower.
When it comes to the workplace, nearly 50 percent of women admitted to taking more time getting ready if they had a crush on someone, while 25 percent of men put in an extra effort to look good for a girl they fancied, the article revealed. Nearly 20 percent of women spend an extra ten minutes in the morning getting ready for work, the article disclosed.
