UK travel
expert Thomas Cook has published a study which shows that the package holiday
is alive and kicking and is far from dying out. The report - The Changing Face
of the Package Holiday - analyses a wealth of industry data available to Thomas
Cook. It reveals that, despite the growing market share of independent travel,
the number of Britons booking packages of one kind or another has remained
constant during the first few years of the 21st century (hovering between 19. 5
million and 20 million).
Furthermore, the data shows that the
package holiday is moving with the times and becoming more adventurous.
“Everyone is always quick to say that the package is coming undone, but that is
simply not true,” says Manny Fontenla-Novoa, Chief Executive of Thomas Cook UK & Ireland. According to
Fontenla-Novoa, their data shows that the package holiday is currently
experiencing some kind of a renaissance. “With all the recent natural disasters
and also the international terrorism threat, people are really appreciating the
key benefits of booking a package with a bonded travel company, namely the
reassurance that if anything goes wrong, the company will endeavor to get them
home as quickly as possible,” he added.
