Package tours commemorate Battle of the Somme

Next year marks the 90th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme and, new for 2006, Battlefield specialist Leger Holidays has launched a once-in-a-lifetime holiday to be there on the day. The World War I battle is one of the major new breaks featured in the 2006 brochure of Leger, one of the leading provider of European Battlefield tours.

 

Prices for this five-day coach tour start from as little as £219 with 16 departures in 2006. The company is also providing a special anniversary tour that will allow visitors to attend the Official Ceremony at Thiepval Memorial on July 1, 2006.

 

This five-day coach break includes four nights’ accommodation with continental or buffet breakfast at a 2 or 3 star hotel, as well as excursions (included in the price) with a specialist battlefields guide. There are 16 departures in 2006 between February 26 and October 23. Prices start from £219/person, with upgrade to Silver Service travel starting from £229.

 

Meanwhile, the Special Anniversary Tour is a four-day coach break that includes three nights’ accommodation with continental or buffet breakfast at a 2 or 3 star hotel and excursions (included in the price) with a specialist battlefields guide. Available dates are June 29 (Silver Service, multiple departures) and June 30, 2006. Prices start from £199/person, with upgrade to Silver Service travel starting from £269.
