The Lowndes Hotel
in London, England has closed its doors to
undergo a $14 million refurbishment program.
Set in
Knightsbridge, one of London’s prime locations,
The Lowndes Hotel in Belgravia
Village is scheduled to
re-open in October 2006 when it will be rebranded as Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel.
The hotel is positioned in synergy with its sister property Jumeirah Carlton
Tower just across the
road.
Among the
highlights of the renovation will be the addition of a new sixth floor, which
will be dedicated to suites. The new floor will feature four one bedroom suites
with sofa beds and five junior suites. The nine new suites, themed in blue,
silver and grey shades will bring the total number of guest rooms at The Lowndes
Hotel to 87, of which 14 will be suites.
In addition to the
new floor and the refurbishment of the hotel’s existing guest rooms, the lobby
area will be completely remodeled to create flowing spaces with an art-deco
influence, oak features and limestone flooring in sleek rust color tones. The
reception and concierge desks will be completely re-designed, adjoining the
vibrant and stylish glass enclosed Belgrave Bar, serving meals, snacks and
cocktails.
“The extensive
refurbishment will give The Lowndes Hotel a fresh, more contemporary
appearance, without changing the classic, intimate feel of the property. By
updating our well loved property we will be able to offer better services and
amenities for our loyal guests, as well as introduce ourselves to a new breed
of traveler seeking a sense of ‘well-being’ and tranquility”, said Jane Renton,
General Manager of The Lowndes Hotel.
