United Airlines is
introducing its EasyCheck-in system at London Heathrow
Airport. According to the
airline, customers flying from London
on all United flights with an e-ticket will benefit from a more convenient and
faster check-in at the airport. Dedicated EasyCheck-in machines will allow
United’s customers to avoid queues on arrival at Heathrow Terminal 3 by
checking them in and printing boarding passes.
This is United’s
first European station to install the EasyCheck-in system. The system is
utilized as follows. The customer is greeted by an agent who asks standard
security questions. The customer then proceeds directly to United’s six
dedicated machines (including one wheelchair accessible unit). The EasyCheck-in
machines, featuring a touch screen process and choice of eight language options,
unit scans the machine-readable passport and the customer verifies both
passport and flight information. The passenger then selects a seat and has the
option of entering Mileage Plus details, as well as organizing an upgrade if
they have sufficient Mileage Plus points.
Once checked in,
the customer can take their bags to a dedicated bag drop desk situated next to
the units.
