Figures released
by travel price comparison website Cheapflights.co.uk suggest that there’s
plenty for the UK capital to
be cheery about, despite confidence in London
dropping after the events of July 2005.
Summer in London traditionally sees
the city bloom, attracting many overseas and British tourists, with events such
as the Queen’s Coronation Day and Official Birthday in June as well as outdoor
concerts and festivals taking place in London’s
parks throughout the season. People are also traveling to London to experience the excitement of the
World Cup support in the capital.
However, London is
only 9th in the list of most searched destinations on the website
with popular holiday destinations like Tenerife, Malaga and Alicante all
generating much higher interest.
“Searches on
flights to London did see a dip after July 2005,
but London
always remains in the top ten on our flight searches. This is set to continue
in the short term with the summer season imminent but also in the long term
with the Olympics in 2012,” says David Soskin, CEO of Cheapflights.co.uk.
